Rebels fired mortars at a barracks in the capital, and elsewhere threw some grenades. Two policemen were killed and one wounded. One arrest was made. On the Iraqi border, a battle between soldiers and rebels trying to cross left dozens dead. The rebel crossing attempt was stopped and much equipment and munitions captured. In Khoramabad, a protest by pro-reformers  turned violent and over three dozen people were injured and some 20 arrested. Much property damage resulted.
