In West Java, some 10,000 Islamic conservatives attacked a compound of the Islamic sect Ahmadiyah Indonesia Congregation (JAI). The Islamic conservatives (Indonesian Muslim Solidarity) accuse JAI of being heretics and demand their expulsion from Indonesia. There are some 200,000 JAI members in Indonesia. JAI has its origins in Pakistan, where it is also persecuted by Islamic conservatives.
