 The four months of fighting in Aceh continues, leaving nearly a thousand dead (including 63 troops and police.) The government has barred foreigners from Aceh, especially aid workers and journalists. The Aceh fighting has left civilians caught in the middle, and many "rebel" casualties turn out to be civilians with no rebel connections. The government wants to avoid the bad publicity from these incidents.
