The army claims to have killed 80 rebels in Aceh so far, but many of the dead appear to be local young men who troops considered suspicious and simply killed. It's suspected that the army is using informers to identify some "suspects", who are then hunted down and arrested or, as people tend to flee when soldiers approach, killed. Some villages are known to be friendly to the rebels, but that's usually because some villagers are active supporters of the rebels (including being informers for the rebels.) But even in these "rebel" villages, the majority of people don't care for being active with the rebels.
