The military said that rebel district chief Teuku Ali Said gave himself up to government soldiers on May 21st. Said, who had been carrying a pistol and AK-47 when he surrendered, believed top rebel leaders were only concerned about their own interests. Another GAM commander, Din Syehman, was killed in a firefight in an area not far from the provincial capital Banda Aceh. - Adam Geibel
