The government is cracking down on anti-US demonstrations by forbidding the burning of foreign national flags. Also, Indonesians found fighting in foreign armies (namely the Taliban), risk losing their citizenship. In Aceh, three civilians were killed, including a Red Cross worker who appears to have been tortured. In Irian Jaya, eight officers were relieved of duty after rebels seized an airfield and held it for three days. In East Java, 112 soldiers and 13 policemen are facing criminal charges for how they fought with each other and then violently attacked civilians..
