Violence continued in Aceh, with nine dead (two soldiers and seven civilians.) The troops appear to be indiscriminate in their violence, attacking villages suspected of harboring rebels. Buildings are burned and civilians attacked and killed. President Wahid has ordered a halt to this sort of thing, but the military is not yet completely under civilian control.
