India-Pakistan: Islamic Militants Continue Killing

Archives

April 14, 2006: A spate of terrorist grenade attacks left five dead in Indian Kashmir. Violence has been declining in this long contested area, as Pakistan restricts the activities of Islamic militants across the border.

April 13, 2006: In Bangladesh, the government has found and punished banks that assisted Islamic terrorists via illegal transactions.

April 12, 2006: In Pakistan, a raid, in the northwest tribal territories, killed a senior al Qaeda official, Egyptian Abdul Rahman al Muhajir. He was an expert bomb maker, believed to be a key participant in 1998 bombings in Kenya. He had a five million dollar reward on his head. Several other al Qaeda men were caught with al Muhajir.

Indian and Bangladeshi border guards exchanged fire, leaving at least one man dead.

April 11, 2006: In southern Pakistan, a suicide bomber attacked a Sunni prayer meeting of 15,000 people. Nearly 60 were killed and over a hundred wounded. A militant Shia sect is suspected, as radical Sunni and Shia groups have been attacking each other, like this, for over decade. There are also Sunni groups that don't agree with each other, with al Qaeda being the latest bunch of radical Sunnis to show up.
