 An opposition politician in Pakistan has caused an uproar by referring to an American newsmagazine article that claimed desecration of the Koran was used as an interrogation technique in Guantanamo. The U.S. denied the accusation (many of the interrogators and other staff at Guantanamo are Moslem), and said it would investigate. The anger, mainly be people who were already hostile to the United States, soon spread across the border to Afghanistan. The newsmagazine later admitted that the accusation was probably false.
