 A bomb went off at a Shia shrine in southwestern Pakistan (Baluchistan). Some 30 people were killed, and over 40 injured. Sunni radical groups have been attacking Shia, and other non-Sunni Moslem (and non-Moslem) groups for over a decade. Radical Shia groups have formed and attacked right back.

In Andhra Pradesh (southeastern India) three Maoist rebels and one of the rebel leaders were killed in a gun battle with police. Captured weapons and documents indicated a several attacks were being planned, involving twenty or more armed Maoists.
