Taliban force in Pakistans northwest have launched an offensive against the government. At least half a dozen bombs went off in the region and there were several gun battles. At least three policemen were killed, and several civilians as well. All of this activity is not unusual, as this is a dangerous part of the world, where explosions and gunfire are common.
