The largest Kashmiri rebel group, Hizbul Mujahedin, said it was willing to enter peace talks with India and Pakistan. Some of the smaller rebel groups are not willing to talk and all the rebels are pretty determined to separate Kashmir from India and expel all non-Moslems from the area.

In Pakistan, mobs of up to a thousand religious students have held violent demonstrations against pop music, videos and cable TV. The young men destroy any cassettes, tapes or CDs they come across. These young men were taught such extreme attitudes in the thousands of Moslem religious schools that have been established with Saudi Arabian money in the last two decades.
