In Kashmir, 11 died in rebel related violence.

Indian and Pakistani artillery exchanged fire along the Line of Control, leaving several Pakistani civilians wounded.

Pakistan continues to go through the motions of arresting Islamic militants, and then releasing them on bail, or for "lack of evidence." The Islamic militants are popular with various segments of the population, and can get violent demonstrations going on short notice.

In India's northeast tribal areas, fighting between rebel groups has left four rebels dead. Rival factions of the NSCN rebels have been feuding with each other for years.
