India-Pakistan: July 23, 2002

Archives

Pakistani troops and police continue to track down and arrest al Qaeda members. At least twenty of these are awaiting movement to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. There has been no announcements of rewards paid, but such offers have been widely made and apparently the money is being paid out quietly to that the recipients do not become the targets for retaliation by Islamic radicals.

In one indication that the situation between Pakistan and India is cooling off, more tourists are arriving in India and embassies are making it easier to get visas.
