  In Kashmir, shelling across the Line of Control left a Pakistani civilian dead. About 150 have died in such incidents since Pakistan and India moved troops to their borders on May 14th. India says they have killed 870 rebels and arrested 353 in the first half of 2002. There were 488 civilians killed and 664 wounded. The army and police suffered 163 dead and 472 wounded. In the same period last year, 757 rebels were killed and 24 arrested. Casualties among civilians and security personnel are down compared to last year. Rebels launched 1869 attacks, compared to 2111 last year.
