Two months of religious violence in the northern Indian province of Gujarat has left 900 (mostly Moslems) dead so far. This has not done anything to ease tensions with Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan has released some of the Islamic radicals it had earlier arrested and refuses to crack down on the Kashmiri separatists. A million troops are still massed on the Indo-Pakistan border.
