In the last two months, Indian forces have killed 163 rebels in Kashmir, of which 96 were identified as having come over the Line of Control from Pakistan. In the last six months, there have been 98 such crossing attempts. An increasing number of these attempts fail. In Kashmir, two children were killed and four wounded when they triggered a landmine while they were playing. In two incidents, troops killed eight rebels.
