India is developing the Agni-III missile which will extend the range of the Agni series to 3,500km. Agni-II has been tested to 2,000km. The Indian Air Force plans to have 40 MiG-27s upgraded at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited factory in Nasik. The program will extend the service lives, install new electronics (including a moving map, secure communications, night vision equipment, heads up display, and a GPS navigation system), and add an in-flight refueling probe. India has 135 MiG-27s but the refit program is expected to stop at 40.--Stephen V Cole
