Several incidents of terrorism in Kashmir left ten people dead. Six of the deceased were Moslem guerillas, another was a civilian caught in the crossfire.

December 22; India has agreed to allow international inspectors (from the World Association of Nuclear Operators, not from the IAEA) into the Narora Atomic Power Station in the northern part of the country (Uttar Pradesh state). This will be only the second Indian nuclear power plant subject to inspection; the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station in Gujarat was opened to inspection last year. --Stephen V Cole

December 21; As Pakistan commissioned a new French made Agosta 90-B submarine into service, the government announced it had no plans to go to war with anyone.

December 20; Pakistan announced the capture of  an Indian agent responsible for a bomb attack last week that killed ten people.

December 19; Fear of additional terrorist attacks caused Pakistan to increase security throughout the country, especially at airports.
