The Pakistani naval aircraft crashed quite near the border, with some wreckage in both Pakistan and India. Pakistani anti-aircraft fire drove back Indian helicopters and jets that crossed the marshy border area to look at the wreckage sitting in Pakistani territory.

August 10; A Pakistani naval patrol aircraft was shot down by Indian MiG-21 fighters. The French built Atlantic long range reconnaissance aircraft was carrying a sixteen man crew. All were killed. The uproar from Pakistan was expected, but India put it's armed forces on a higher level of alert anyway.
