Poland has commissioned a new logistics vessel, the Kontradmiral Xawery Czernicki. This was converted from a degaussing vessel originally built for Russia. The ship has two engines which provide a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 14 knots. Weapons include a single 23mm gun, two nine-barreled chaff launchers, and two quadruple SA7 Grail missile launchers. It has a 38-man crew and can carry 40 fully-equipped troops and six medium trucks. There is a helicopter deck aft. The vessel can be configured as a maintenance, hospital, command, or surveillance ship.--Stephen V Cole
