Scrambling for export markets, Germany has said it can produce a version of its Panzer Haubitzer 2000 self-propelled gun that weighs less than 50 tons, five tons less than the standard version. The changes include a shorter hull (six road wheels instead of seven), new armor technology, and a reduced ammunition load of 50 rounds. --Stephen V Cole
