HPS Simulations has released "War over Vietnam", the first in the Modern Air Power Series.
War Over Vietnam is a tactical/operational air power simulation which features an extremely detailed and accurate modeling of the air war in Vietnam. Electronic warfare, to include jamming, plays a large role in leading a successful strike into the thick North Vietnamese air defenses. Glide bombs, heat seeking and radar guided missiles, cannon, AAA, and SAM sites are all modeled. War over Vietnam is the first computer game to attempt to portray the dangers of going "Downtown" in an accurate and detailed way.
Game Features
- 23 Historically accurate scenarios ranging from 1964 to 1972
- 118 different aircraft types, with multiple weapons load-outs depending on the mission
- Players control fighter, bomber, Search and Rescue, jamming, refueling, ' Wild Weasel,' and other types of aircraft
- Forces include US Navy, USAF, Marine, and Vietnamese aircraft and SAM sites
- Scenario and order of battle editors, so players can create their own missions
- Real-time play that allows a player to play against the computer, or against another player (or players)
- Network play allows players to play against each other either individually or in teams over the Internet or LAN
- Pause feature to allow players to give orders to their aircraft, plus time compression as required.
