Discussion Board on this DLS topic
Because of the frequent use of roadside bombs, and other explosive devices, against American troops in Iraq, there is a large incidence of eye injuries. This was foreseen, and the troops were equipped with goggles. Actually, the troops have had the goggles for over a decade. But many of the troops did not like to wear the goggles because, well, the army issue goggles were considered ugly. Moving quickly (for the army anyway), the army switched to a more fashionable brand of goggles. The troops wore them more often, and the number of eye injuries declined.
