Sports Illustrated is shortly to select it's "Sportsman of the Year."

Perhaps they give some consideration to Pat Tillman, the ex-Cardinals football player who gave up everything after 9/11. He quit a $3.5 million dollar contract to join the U.S. Army and later became a Ranger, because it was the "right thing to do."

He was killed, apparently by friendly fire, fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Perhaps he deserves the "Sportsman of the Year" distinction more than a lot of millionaire ballplayers charge $15 bucks for an autograph or jump into the stands to fights with the fans.

This link is to SI's "Sportsman of the Year" voting site, http://sisoy.secondthought.com/

On the left hand side is a strip of small "mug shots" labeled "Fan Poll." Scroll down these, and Pat Tillman's profile is the second from the bottom

If you wish to vote for him, highlight the picture and click on the "vote" button in blue.
