Sudan reported that a Sudanese policemen died in a firefight between security police and a rebel force in east Sudan. The attack occurred on October 14. The Sudanese government report said the rebel force fled into Eritrea. The rebel group was identified as a faction of the Beja forces. The so-called Beja Congress is the political organization representing the non-Arab Beja ethnic group.
