Getting the UN, or anyone else, involved in making peace in Sudan, and ending local atrocities like ethnic cleansing and slavery, keep running afoul of oil politics. Too many major nations are scrambling for lucrative deals in Sudan, and none of these players wants to see any diplomatic squabbling over refugees and slavery get in the way.
