Despite the presence of American troops to the north in Djbouti, no US troops or aircraft have been seen operating in Somalia. It is thought that the troops in Djbouti are intended for use in Yemen, a known base area for al Qaeda. Meanwhile, German and other NATO forces continue to operate off the coast of Somalia.
