Hamas announced it will suspend attacks on Israelis. Hamas has about a thousand core members who can be used for attacks on Israelis. Hamas is popular among Palestinians not just because of it's vow to kill or expel all Israeli settlers in Palestinian territory, but also because of its network of charitable efforts and, compared to the Palestinian Authority, lack of corruption. But Hamas also wants an Islamic State encompassing all of the Middle East.
