An opinion poll among Israelis indicates that 48 percent believe think the army is not using enough force to deal with Palestinian violence (16 percent thought the current level of force was too high.) Only 41 percent back an invasion of Palestinian territory, while 49 percent oppose it. Continued negotiations are backed by 56 percent, including meetings between the Israeli foreign minister and Yasser Arafat.
