The Israeli military is demanding more money from their government to the tune of an extra $367 million per year. The government had, in fact, just CUT the defense budget by $244 million; the military now wants this money back, along with more for at least five years. Without the increase, the military says it will have to disband an infantry brigade, cut back training by 25%, reduce the number of active ground attack aircraft, suspend all research and development, and delay the planned reorganization of the Israel Defense Force. The military has even threatened to cancel work on the Merkava-4 and buy American M1A2s!--Stephen V Cole
