  In Kashmir, rebel violence left six dead. 

Indian and Pakistani artillery exchanged fire along the Line of Control in Kashmir, leaving a Pakistani civilian dead. 

In Quetta, Pakistan, twelve police cadets were killed. The cadets were Shia and the attackers were apparently Sunni. Violence between Shia and Sunni Moslems has been going on for generations.
