India believes that Pakistan is not controlling militants in Pakistani Kashmir and estimates that at least 107 armed men have gotten across the border into Kashmir in the last few weeks. India has threatened to attack the rebel camps in Pakistani Kashmir and Pakistan said it would respond to that with force. Many Indians, in and out of the military, believe the Indian army should attack these camps.

In a sign that India may be preparing to withdraw troops from the border, soldiers were seen removing recently laid mines along the border. 

In Kashmir, rebel violence left six rebels, three soldiers and a civilian dead.
