China has received the second Sovremenny-class destroyer built in Russia and plans to start the trip home shortly. The ship should arrive in China before year's end. The Chinese bought the last two Sovremennys that the Russian Navy had ordered; the Russians lacked the money to finish the ships for their own fleet. The Chinese are now negotiating for two more Sovremennys built specifically for their use.--Stephen V Cole
