A large bomb exploded in the southern city of Kandahar, the headquarters of the Taliban. The explosion was near the home of the Taliban's supreme leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar. The house was damaged, some 40 people were killed and many more injured. Two brothers and a brother-in-law  of Omar were among the dead. No one took credit for the attack.
