62 of the 191 UN members have complied with UN Resolution 1455. Iran, North Korea, Libya , Syria are absent from the list. To see a list of those nations in compliance, do a google search for "UN Resolution 1455", willtake you to the appropriate UN web page where you can click on the list.

Ignoring UN resolutions is the latest International fad. The UN brought this upon itself, thru it's inaction. What is the point of an organization that doesn't do anything? T.

What is the point? Perhaps sharing ill-gotten gains?

If there are ill-gotten gains, why are they always hitting the US up for more money? T.

Actually, I looked this up about 6 months ago. It was very hard to find. there were lots of entries, but they danced around the final number. Almost a bad as trying to find out who runs the EU. Fortunatly in another life I was an accountant. Throwing out the peacekeeping ops ( which were run off budget, on a pay as you go plan). I got to around 1.7 billion a year. But they use every accounting trick invented. The UN makes Enron look forthright and honest. If they were a US corporation they would be shut down and thrown in jail, which is an Idea whose time might have come. I was really amazed that their unpaid parking tickets were over 400,000 US$. That is what the City of New york wrote off in 2000 ( I think, it could have been for a multi year period, and the city of N.Y decided they needed the write off that year). T.

Most of the parking tickets are for parking in fire zones, fire hydrants etc. Another indication of the UN's concern for the welfare and safety of the "little guy".(or their hatred of the US)

"Anyone seen a UN operating budget?" I have, for construction projects, and its sickening. Sickening in a down in your stomach, you know this is just wrong, but there's not a thing you can do about it sort of way.

Sure there is. IIRC the UN is just given diplomatic status through Presidentail decree. Truman couldn't get the Senste to do the treaty with that in there, so it was taken out. This is almost an Urban rumor thingy and I have never read the entire charter, but if thru What one president gives another can take. So all Bush needs to do is declare the UN people, "persons no gratis" (I think that is the term), and have the New york Police pick them up, cuff them and take the to the airport. Then you put them on a plane and ship them elsewhere while the FBI goes thru the UN Building looking at files. Nice dream huh. I'm sure that the FBI would find enough stuff to make the American people think it was a good idea. It was about 50% favored getting out of the UN the last poll I saw in Feburary of this year. According to Clinton anything over 40% is a mandate. T.

Makes you slap your forehead when the typical American view of the UN right now is the same view held by the John Birch Society 30 years ago. Maybe they've been right all along.
