McCain + Neocon policies= bankrupt US + split with major alies France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.  Seriously we need a good statesmen to deal with this  problem not someone who will start something he can't finish, and BTW Ukraine is a large country a capable military unlike Georgia, sure Russia is stronger but they are also smart, a military confrotation with Ukaine would hurt them economicly and diplomaticly as well militarily, Russia has a number of incentives it could use to get another faction to partner up with the pro Russian party in Crimea.  Thats how intelligent leaders play the game,  Reagan, the first Bush, and Clinton knew how to play the game.

It's been this way since, well, forever, and the Orange Revolution did not change that. It's not just about Crimea. In fact I'll be amazed if nationalistic factions prevail in these next elections. The President's approval rating stands at about 3%...

I know but western powers will do everything they can to keep them from winning but my point was that Ukraine had a capable military and that Russia is smart enough to play the game grease a few palms and get what it wants, without a major confrontation, unlike McCain.

Absolutely. A military operation against Ukraine is about the worst move Russia could make. It'll likely bring down the existing Russian government.
