| Since the first CVF won't be ready until 2015/2016, we will have to buy some F-35b to operate off the Invincibles. The RAF could make good use of these later. Since the CVF will be built with the French, it will almost certainly be CTOL. This would imply a split buy of ~50 F-35b (for 2012) followed by ~50 F-35c a few years later. A third purchase of ~50 F-35c could follow the second CVF becoming operational. It is more likely that we would be forced to muddle through with a mix of Bees and Cees (the Bees in reserve for large scale operations). |
