Apparently errors in under reported Hoffman votes has closed the gap with Owens to about 3,000 votes (Owens has already been sworn in and voted for the Medical Care Bill). About 10,000 absentee ballots are yet to be counted. My own sources tell me the 10th Mountain Division which is based at Fort Drum in the District and is overseas had problems with distribution and pickup of ballots to and from its deployed units. One can only speculate what the results of the election would have been if the Division was home.

Well, it seems statistically unlikely to me that the absentee ballots will turn out to go 6500/3500 in favor of Hoffman, but it sure would be funny if they did.

Hotair had an article on this, and it's very unlikely, practically impossible.  The absentee ballots were mostly filled out when Scottafava was in the race, so she and Hoffman probably split the Republican ticket at that point.  And since Owens has already been sworn in, Congress--dominated by Democrats--would have to take a vote to seat Hoffman instead.  That's not happening.
