New Orleans mayor learns about disaster response in Cuba

[quote]
"We understand we may have a lot to learn from the Cubans in terms of disaster preparedness and how they have dealt with hurricanes," spokeswoman Ceeon Quiett said.

Cuba is internationally applauded for exceptional disaster management, according to a news release from Nagin's office.

That's the Mayor of New Orleans talking.

While there is enough blame for everyone in the flooding of New Orleans, the media went out of their way too blame Bush and ignore Nagin's contribution to the disaster by refusing to evacuate (the evacuation buses were all lost when the parking lots were flooded) or activate the emergency plans (by law FEMA could not act until requested by the state governor, who in turn could not request federal assistance for a local emergency until a request was received from the local authority [Nagin]) until it was too late.

All that Cuba needed to look good was someone in charge who knew what needed to be done and had the authority to do it.

Maybe "kill everyone who disagrees with you" appeals to Nagin?

What I don't understand is, if Cuba is so damn awesome for liberals and the US so rotten, why don't they, you know, move to Cuba?  I mean, geez, America isn't a prison.  You can leave whenever you like.

Unlike Cuba, of course.
