Subject: White House communications chief Anita Dunn's favorite philosopher is Mao Zedong
Zhang Fei    10/17/2009 9:34:24 AM
That would be the same Mao Zedong who had Chinese who merely disagreed with his views tortured to death or executed after show trials. http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MzI0Mjc1NGNiNmZiNGExMGRjYjQ2M2YzMzczYjE3N2U= (Quote) Glenn Beck showed an absolutely damning video of Anita Dunn on his show yesterday. As everyone knows, she is the White House communications director who has declared war on Fox News. The video shows Dunn giving a speech in which she highlights the two most important political philosophers shaping her outlook on politics: Mao Zedong and Mother Teresa. The first “political philosopher” Dunn is praising was a tyrannical dictator who imprisoned, tortured, and killed millions of his own people. In fact, it is estimated that the Chinese Communists — led, inspired, and controlled by Mao — have killed 65 million Chinese citizens since 1949 through the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, and the Gulag system of slave-labor prisons (the “Laogai” system) that Mao implemented. Imagine what would happen if a White House communications director cited Adolf Hitler as one of her favorite political philosophers. Not only would it be an above-the-fold, front-page story in every major newspaper in the country, but there would also be outraged howls in the editorial pages. Mao killed more people than Hitler — they were two of the three worst mass murderers of the 20th century (the third being Joseph Stalin). However, the revelation of Dunn’s comments will probably be greeted by the mainstream media with a big collective yawn. (Unquote)

Given Obama's past associations, should we be surprised to find Communists in his administration?
There is obviously a lot of ignorance out there in the voting public.

Being ruled by Communists should help eductae them.

Not the first one. That's why I started another thread yesterday to collect all these Marixists' speech. So far I have counted Anita Dunn, Van Jones, Cass Sunstein and Mark Lloyd. I believe there are more. Cass Sunstein's wife, Samatha Powers, has so far given only moderate speech. We'll see how it goes. Keep piling that thread. I'm getting tired of explaining why we have so many disagreements with this administration.

Mao's a great philosopher.  If you want to understand how to run an insurgency, Mao's the guy.  Actually running a government, not so much.  Better off with Locke or Franklin or Mill or...oh wait.  Those are all dead white guys, so they're not important.

Actually, she's probably never even read Mao.  She just said that because she remembers one of her college profs saying something about Mao, so she's trying to be trendy.  Personally, I'd go with a Che shirt.  That's very hip these days.

Either that, or it's all a conspiracy.  Obama must get his czars into the Oval Office every morning and say, "Folks, let me be perfectly clear.  This administration isn't a success unless we can get Glenn Beck's head to actually explode like that dude in Scanners.  So say something unbelievably stupid today."

Her previous career was as a Democratic political consultant, not a showbiz figure. I suspect she's not only read Mao, she's heard of the body count attributed to Mao.

Imagine what would have happened to a Republican staffer if he had said that his favorite philosopher was Hitler. Imagine what would have happened to the GOP's reputation...

Like Pat Buchanan? He got air time on CNBC just to make right wingers all look like white Nazi racists.

Well, we know the GOP loves the religious strictness of Islam, but calls it "good family values".  But I doubt Anita Dunn has read any real Mao stuff, Chinese people probably fill her with fake Mao sayings when she goes there.

Chinese people will fill a visitor's head with BS stories about what Mao or someone else did or said.  Like Mao swimming across the Yangtze when his only daily activities were eating, screwing pre-teens and being carried in a sedan chair.

Not exactly a good training regimen for swimming across that river. If you were to ask someone what season when he did it, they'd probably say "springtime" just to elaborate on the difficulty.

GOP love for Islam? You must mean the love that made Bush the most hated American president in the Islamic world.

A political operative who knows nothing about Mao? If Buchanan had said his favorite philosopher was Hitler, who would accept as an explanation the statement that he knew nothing about Hitler?

I heard that story too, from a Chinese professor.  He kind of halfway grinned when he said it; I don't think he believed it either, but some of the other profs nodded sagely and remarked on Mao's commitment to physical fitness.  Well, yeah, I suppose the survivors of the Long March probably were pretty physically fit.  As I recall, however, Mao didn't look like he missed any meals.

That aside, I'm trying to remember when the GOP started saying that women should be barefoot, pregnant, and wearing burqas, and that anyone who opposes the GOP's agenda should have their heads chopped off.  I'm also trying to remember when the GOP said something about "death to the Jews."  Oh wait.  That's probably because they haven't.

For that matter, neither have the Democrats, though if Ms. Dunn is familiar with Mao's sayings, she probably knows the one about power and guns.  Which scares me a little.  I'd be far happier with her being an idiot who heard something about Mao while smoking a bong in the sorority.

And what's up with putting Mother Teresa and Mao in the same sentence?  Mother Teresa would totally kick Mao's fat ass.

Some sources reported that Anita "Mao my favorite philosopher" Dunn resigned yesterday. The guy who took over the office seems to be a very young insider of Obama's political team. Not sure what's going on there, but it seems that Rahm Emanuel now has even more influence.

Speculation.

I guess the Goebbels campaign against targeted media (her idea?) failed and she got a taste of "the Chicago Way".
