Also I plan to buy a CZ-75B so there - I am not against ban, just extreme control against the nutters - Thats a fair request!!!

All it takes to keep posting on a site full of people one doesn't agree with just to piss them off  is being a real nutter.

I don't think I'm going to be the only one to see the irony here.

Herc, if I had ever seen you post anything here that appeared to be more than an attempt to shit-stir I'd be right behind you. However, your behavior over the years means that I doubt the sincerity of any concern that you might claim to have for others and this thread is no exception.
However, since I don't believe in condeming somebody forever just because they have acted like an idiot, I'll make a suggestion to you. From now on make a consistent habit of making positive, considered contributions here and just cop the shit that you will get because of the reputation that you have bought upon yourself. Eventually some of the fairer minded posters will see that you are trying and you might gain some credibility here.

It's not the guns, video games, violent movies, hard rock, rap, knives, etc.

It's the mindset in today's society that's totally f%^ked up. In the Netherlands we are also going down that path with stabbings at schools, throwing stones at rescue helicopters, etc. And I will add that the sale of switchblades have been made illegal in the Netherlands. It also does not help to diagnose the more active kids with adhd and dope them up in school I may add.

If this continues, it will be easier in the future to conquer the West with psychiatrists than with an army.

What makes it worse is that not only are such knee jerk reactions accepted from politicians, it is actively campaigned for!

Its free speech in this country

Free speech means you can start your own weblog and post whatever you want there. What you have on this site is "posting priviledge" which is generously granted to you by the owner of this site. Anyway, people who think freedom of speech should be a god-given right were considered nutters around 250 years ago.

AG, and other non-us citizens inserting themselves into US politics,

What I find reprehensible (besides using an incident to score points before the bodies are cold, especially when I drive by the site every day) is someone from another country trying to butt into internal US politics and tell us what to do. I don't try to tell Aussies what to do, please extend the same respect to us. The Second Amendment is as much a part of the fabric of our country as the First Amendment is.

Herc,

Your choice of firearms (Desert Eagle?) shows you have serious psycological issues, and should not be allowed to own ANY firearms. A DE is making up for a lack in other areas. They're bulky, unwieldy toys that look cool but are about as useful as a  ceremonial sword.

As to your assertion that only WV isn't in favor of gun control shows just how clueless you really are.

Why don't you figure out how to mount a DE in an external pod on a Rafale and start a fanboy thread with BW?

Let's try that again AFTER another cup of coffee.

Your assertion that WV is the only state not in favor of gun control shows how clueless you really are.

I know of very few rural residents who are in favor of gun control in ANY state.

I've already apologised for raising the Birmingham massacre so soon after it happenned, so there is no need to carp on it. As for "inserting myself into US politics", I'm not. What I am doing is participating on an international discussion board on a discussion that I am interested in, I am not doing so with the intention of "point scoring" or being inflamatory, and as long as Sysops is ok with it I am entitled to do so. If you don't like it then you can refute it or ignore it, I don't have a gun to your head making your respond. However, you might find that if you were a little bit less defensive and a little more open minded you might find that you can learn something.

Thats precisely the point that I've been making all along, there is no need for weapons like a DE and there need to be laws to stop fruit loops owning guns at all. So, it appears that we ae broadly in agreement if you don't want to hear it from an Aussie.

My comments to Herc are rhetorical. If he is a US Citizen and has a clean record, he can own whatever firearm he chooses to.

As far as irritation with the subject, and me and others being rather defensive about it, you're unlikely to find a more sensitive issue in US politics. You'd get a calmer response if you were discussing who should be allowed to vote. The second amendment, and the self-reliance inherent it represents, are at the core of the personality of much of the US.

How about a bunch of US residents get together and do a rewrite of your constitution?

I'm sure you won't mind at all.

No you are right, I am completely out of line because Americans has never interefered in the affairs of other countries.... like f*ck they haven't. For example, have you ever heard of the practice of sheep mulesing and how US political pressure groups have impacted upon the Australian wool industry? Heres an article about it for your information.

Personally I don't have a problem with international comment and even pressure about domestic Australian political issues, so long as the commentor makes an effort be informed and  respectful. The alternative is that we would all be happy to sit by and say nothing about, for instance, the way some Muslims circumcise there little girls. However, as far as I am concerned the US is subject to the same degree of scrutiny, so I don't really have much time for your preciousness on this matter.
