Subject: Minuteman May Not Get Upgrades

Aviation Week & Space Technology
06/02/2008 , page 23

The USAF wants to upgrade the current Minuteman III fleet with new guidance and fiber optic C3 electronics. The USAF is currently pressing Congress to complete its funding request for the 10 year upgrade to the aging missile force.

Funding is being considered as part of the Fiscal 2010 budget request. $7 billion has already been spent on guidance and propulsion upgrades to keep Minuteman III viable until 2020.

The U.S. has 450 active Minuteman IIIs, with 50 spares for testing.

The question remains open because according to leading Democrat candidate - no further funding would be issued during his administration to U.S. strategic systems.

Rockets, like everything else, wear out just by sitting in place-especially the electronics. Hasn't that fool ever heard of ENTROPY?

Correct me if I'm worng but hasn't nuclear deterrent kept the peace fro the past 50 odd years? So you can't seem to trust these people with your nuclear security, good luck entrusting the whole contry to them.

->You konw the whole idea of disarmament only works if every one else does as well, fat chance of that happening.
