Subject: News From the Front Line RE:Obama

He is viewed in a very positive way by most troops. I've started to see magazine cut outs in some of the barracks of him and there is a vibe that a lot of troops want to vote for him. Demographically, its hard to say how things break down racially. I know some older White Soldiers who won't vote for him period and others who would. Black and Latino soldiers seem to favor him. Women too. This is a very weird election cycle compared to the last 3 I've been through while in uniform. -DA

Softwar    DA - My Mistake   3/13/2008 10:12:07 AM

Despite what you wrote above - its pretty clear that race is part of your reasoning to vote for Obama - not the man.  To me race is not a factor - experience is.  I refuse to vote for someone who thinks that an RPG is World Of Warcraft or a Marine is some doorman that I can kick everytime I pass by.  Both Dems fall into this category.

Hey slow down a second. You are making a very big assumption. Where did I ever say anywhere I was voting for Obama?

Apoligies are in order.  My assumption was wrong and I am indeed incorrect to have jumped the gun.

Don't sweat it man. I know you didn't mean anything by it. Politics is an emotionally charged issue. I'm no different. Honestly, I really haven't made up my mind on where to place my vote. I simply wanted to discuss some of the pro-Obama sentiment I see over here. That's because when I get online, my primary source of info on what's going on at home, all I read is how people are falling in love with Obama. In the chow hall a few weeks ago, I did get to see him deliver a speech and I can see his charm. The entire chow hall was silent to include the non-english speaking TCNs. His delivery is very good. Also, like it or not. His candidacy does represent an unprecidented historuc event for this country and especially to yout and minority citizens. I respect Heralds view on JFK but lets be honest. Most minorities don't pay particular attention to who's Irish, Catholic or whatever if your skin is white. The same applies to non Americans who are watching from the outside. But a black man is always a black man and everybody notices that for better or worse.

Especially in a nation with a history of loving race relations between races like US whites and blacks...;) Again, I haven't chosen a candidate yet even if I am impressed with Obama on a personal level. Obama has some fundamental differences of opinion on issues that I believe in strongly. So voting for him would be very hard for me even if I like him on a personal level. It doesn't help either that I can not stand Senator McCain's politics. I don't think Sen. Clinton will have any chance whatsoever. I don't know of many people who truly belive in her despite the polls.

The significance is that this is a shield that this corrupt politician is using as a shield to prevent close scrutiny. Politics is an emotional subject with many people. Its why I try to compile data sheets on various candidates to see where they are and WHAT they are.

Mitt Romney I looked at hard not because he was a "Mormon" but because he was involved in some very questionable Massachussetts and Salt Lake City Olympics corruption deals. I came away  neutral  concerning him:  because while he was dirty  on the Olympics deals: he actually did good anti-corruption work in trying to rectify the Big Dig disaster.

Hilary Clinton is as corrupt an individual as you might discover in American politics today. Nevertheless: after looking at her record as a New York Senator, I found her legislative  record to be scrupulously honest. Amazing. She lies about that record, but her votes were straight up based on the best evidence and facts she had at the time and her votes were based on HER views. I couldn't find a bought vote.

I found bought votes on Illinois real estate deals, nuclear power regulation and  litigation issues in Barack Obama's very thin record. Such as i can find, I find him to be a sell out tom the highest bidder.;

McCain's  rewcord I find opportunistic and self aggrandizing. You can't buy him, but the vote record indicates he votes whichever way his "revenge arrow' or his personal advantage points towards. He is definitely not consistent and objective.

Especially in a nation with a history of loving race relations between races like US whites and blacks...;) Again, I haven't chosen a candidate yet even if I am impressed with Obama on a personal level.  I am only impressed with Obama's ability to turn on the charm. Once past that empty distraction [I don't charm at all, DA,]  I find him, by the evidence train, to be a duplicitous liar and opportunist. He's McCain in reverse. Some choice huh?

They are the torture enthusiasts, the war-of-choice enthusiasts, the radio talk show jerks who send other people's children to wars their own kids don't volunteer for.

The above statement is a lie; made by somebody who never served in the military, never knew anybody in the military and only associates with people of like prejudices.

I served in the Corps. We were at "peace," but my time in service was punctuated a friend in my company who died when his parachute failed, the Beirut bombing, and a friend who died in a guerilla attack in San Salvador. I was nobody's definition of hero, but I walked in the company of heroes.

My daughter is an Arab linguist in the Navy. She has been "in the sandbox" once. My son is in the Army completing training as a Forward Observer and he will undoubtedly be sent to Iraq.  I not only supported them in their choices, I am deeply proud of them.

Nice pic Darth!  Get home soon/safe!

Obama has an attraction that will be difficult for Clinton to overcome.  She will however win the nomination as Obamas' shine is starting to wane.  I will vote for him as I feel that an African American needs a shot.  In the general McCrazy gets my vote as I do not want to see the military taken apart.

The folks at the Fauxbamessiah's website have apparently taken note... of DarthAmerica's fan post. I think Fauxbemessiah will be great for the troops, as he plans to raise salaries and benefits, while slashing procurement and maintenance to the bone. The added benefit is that the troops will have to deal with fewer wars, since we won't have the equipment or supplies to fight those wars. The impact on the nation's security would, of course, be quite another thing.

When I question Obama's judgment regarding the church, I am a racist who needs to stick to the issues...when I ask how Obama's economic positions will lower the price of anything anywhere in this nation, then that means I would never vote for him anyway because I'm white and he's black....so they tell me.

The worst thing Obama did in my eyes was to say that to vote for him means we can look back on the moment where America finally started to care for the sick. People across the globe vote with their feet everyday on this issue...I wanted to punch him in his smug half-white, Irish face. He's even less patriotic than Gore & Kerry...if that's possible...That's why I won't vote for him.

I intend to stir the race pot until November...If the party of skin color wants to identify me and themselves in such a manner...let's have some light-hearted fun.

Obama currently leads McCain in national polls by a 2dunks-and-a-foulshot-point lead.
