Subject: Hypothetical - Foreigner for POTUS
DropBear    2/4/2005 10:09:48 AM
If your constitution allowed (let's pretend) for a foreigner to be elected as American President, which world leader would you like to see in the top job as Commander in Chief?? Obviously Jaques Chirac is a non-starter ;) .

I nominate Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin for respecting soverign territory moreso than anyone in the American Oligarchy. "We are certainly intending to defend our sovereignty and our air space and if anything develops in our air space, we expect, as a sovereign state, to be notified and have influence on any decisions," he said. "Canada's a sovereign nation and we would expect and insist on being consulted on any intrusion into our air space." (on whether Canada should participate in the development or operation of a missle defense sheild) And we'll take Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew, for his no-nonsense approach to national security. "Would it have been otherwise?" he replied when asked whether Canada's refusal to join means the country now officially relies on the United States for protection.

in fairness i think he would have been much more willing to sign on if there was some hope the system would work. given the last couple test results it's looks more like a money sink than a workable defense program. bear in mind the last test results came after a 2 year period of working the bugs out.

Elizabeth I: it was not specified that I had to propose a LIVE foreigner and I think she would have done great Previous Comment ---------------------- Her style was "democratic"(so to speak)enough to adapt to being President, once she had been retrained a little. She was a splendid player at international politics and instinctivly "knew when to hold em, and when to fold em", as the song goes. She knew how to pick people. Just imagine how different it would be if Walsingham was head of the CIA.

disclaimer:I don't support an amendment for this. In spirit of your hypothetical however, I would support Benjamin Netanyahu. It is my belief that he would prosecute the war on terror similar to our current POTUS. Tony Blair...maybe, but I would probably have too many reservations over domestic issues.
