It also has in the past been an important international player in foreign affairs; most notably as being an honest broker with no history of imperial expansion, nor a current day interest in being a 'super power'.

But that's just it! Canada is too honest and that's why they can't move up. If Canada want's to be a bigger player on the world's stage they must start being bullies and show all the other countries whose boss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i believe that all Canada really needs is some inspiration or in other words a reason to want to for example in the WW2 Canada started out with a really small navy and army. but by the end they had the third biggest navy in the world. Secondly why become a power with people and countries starting to hate you. i tell you if the US wasn't a super power and started to take over countries 911 would never have happened

Personally though, I believe that eventually Canada and the United States will become united in some form, which would mean that Canada would be a super power, albeit due to being joined with the States.

do you honestly think the only way for Canada to become a super power is to become one with the united states. honestly if you look at it i believe that a war or something would have to happen to cause an increase in the Defence of the nation, for example the united states went into WW1 with a rather small economy. but because of the war they increased their defence budget and then came out of the war with a rather big economy
