Subject: US Bans Canadian Beef!

Mad Cow disease has been found in a cow in Alberta.Canadian authorities are backtracking to find source.Meanwhile the US government has banned all Canadian beef, beef byproducts and feed from entering the US.If investigation not brought to a successful end shortly,this could hurt Canada badly.Even more than SARS.

Mad Cow in Canada? That's just not like them. I would have expected "Starting to get a little annoyed" Cow, maybe, but not "Mad". In Canada, when a gangster says "I'm a reasonable man" he's not being sarcastic, that's just how Canadians are. I think it's all the pine trees and unspoiled water. It's like national valium.

According to the Economist, the US ban on Canadian Beef is the result of Japan telling North American distributors that they would only buy beef from the US if the distributors could certify none of it was Canadian. The only way the US could do this was to close the border to Canadian beef. Ottawa, you have an issue with Tokyo.

US beef is doped with growth hormone, forbidden by EU. so banning some products is an usual game all over the world. Also, France banned british beef because of the mad cow. Now it's ok , i think.

Well, the BEST beef in the world, from Botswana, has been untouched by all these shenanigans, thankfully. Most ends up in the EU - enjoy it, Jean.

Mad cow wouldn't spread if you fed cows with regular stuff instead of recycled infected brains. In Japan they test every cow for mad cow. When slaughtered, the head and brains is removed and tested before meat is processed into food product. Their meat is expensive, but safe. They don't feed them with brains either...
