Subject: Russian Deployment in Limited Warfare
willkill4rice    5/23/2009 6:03:34 PM
How would they be deployed in limited warfare, say against an East Asian power that has trade in the atlantic, pacific and indian ocean? Lets say preventing outgoing trade, destroying ports, not hitting incoming neutral shipping.

Assuming 1/2 or 1/3 of surface/subsurface forces would be kept to protect Russian shipping, what would the rest be doing and where, and would they be limited to the bigger ships, ie, would the Kirovs/Slavas/Cruisers and bigger ships be on offensive or defensive? Lets say v PLAN for arguments sake.

Hey everyone, Im really sorry about the multiple posts, I didnt think it posted so pressed the button again. Then thought that I lost it, so did another post. I apologize.

If someone could answer the question, or point the discussion in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

I am really interested in how a navy like the Russian Navy would operate in a limited conflict in the North Pacific, as I described. Assume that it doesnt need to cover its bases anywhere in Europe or the North Sea.
