With Israel's annexation of land that it has no title to. The question is if this maritime version will lead to the same low level short duration wars that the Israelis have been fighting. My prediction is that defending these islets will be a full time job for China.

Careful; Belgian. You were banned once before for veering into that dangerous territory. (Your pack of LIES and prejudice based on it, that is in red.)

I have never been banned from anywhere and if these folks at Strategy Page let you in my guess is that they will let anyone in! Question: was there an intelligent thought in your posts or where they simply more of "you".

Dredging reef to pile on other reefs to make land should make the greens go full tilt. where are the protests?

I sort of suspect they have figured out that the PRC would even less gentle than say the French.. and their various Greenpeace encounters..

These have already been brought up. It is a matter of time.

The Chinese can dredge all they want, but unless they've figured out a way to combat physics, the first TYPHOON in the area will show them why you do not build your dreams of empire on sand.

HR, wow. Really?
 Meh. you loser :)

I've read several articles bemoaning the ecological disaster befalling these Sparky reefs, but lets face it, none of the traditional users of the China sea are particularly known for their overtly green credentials, so the articles i have seen have generally been politically fuelled. The other side of it is that Greenpeace learnt the hard way how stupid it is to do a peaceful protest that harms the economic gains of a dictatorship, i think theres still 1 member of Greenpeace in a Russian jail over that Oil drill in the arctic circle. I imagine the chinese would be just as bad.

And, curious to sea what becomes of these islands once Typhoon season hits, as Keffler says, Nature will take its course. I've no problems with the Communist party squandering 100's of millions on disposable islands.
