It was someone trying to defect. Doesn't make much sense that China would train a N Korean fighter pilot in a N Korean plane when they would have just used their own.

It's possible maintenance failed the pilot's oxygen supply and the aircraft essentially flew itself into the Chinese field.  The pilot did not attempt to eject apparently.  These events happen from time to time.  0.02
